The main character, Celine, is walking a precipitous line of virtue and temptation. I can feel the pull just in these first few chapters.
New Orleans is more than just a setting for the story. It is a character itself. It is protecting Celine but also slowly guiding her deeper into its dark corners.
I don’t fully understand or connect with the alternating POV yet. There is a predator narrating some of the chapters but his background is vague and so he feels more like the shadow of a character at this point.
I would definitely keep reading to find out what happens next.
