Lady Astrid Everleigh was 16 when she barely had her first season and was denunciated by the arrogant Earl of Beaumont. This same person is now, eight years later, approaching Astrid’s little sister. Astrid will do anything to prevent this marriage—even offering herself to the Beast of Beswick, a notoriously hot-tempered war veteran leading a withdrawn life. Both have their own share of scandal, but will their past prevent them from having a future?

The Beast of Beswick was my perfect lecture on a rainy weekend. I was smitten by the book from page 1, and I barely could put it down. It is strong and powerful, and I loved how both characters, Astrid and Thane, made each other’s lives better. Astrid is a very headstrong person who will not shy back from any man. Nowadays we would consider her loose tongue a little feisty, but I am sure society of the early 19th century would have considered a woman like Astrid, especially a woman of high blood, scandalous.

It took me a couple of pages to get used to the unusual vocabulary, but it helped me escape into this dream world. I really appreciated that the story was told from both Astrid’s and Thane’s perspective. Both characters are equally important, and I like that I was able to dive into both of their emotions. I also enjoyed that the book was not prudish although the story takes place in a rather prudish time.

To sum it up, The Beast of Beswick is a great book which I really enjoyed reading. Can only recommend it!
