I'm a sucker for beauty and the beast retellings, and the Beast of Beswick was no exception! I loved how strong-willed Astrid was and how she was willing to do whatever it took to keep her sister safe, even if that meant marrying a man who society thought hideous enough to call a beast. I loved how Astrid never really reacted like everyone else did, though, seeing Thane for who he was from almost the beginning. I wish Thane had been a little more self-confident, but I understand that his continuous self-loathing is what helped to drive the main storyline. After his initial thoughts of wanting to keep her far from him, he truly wanted to let himself care for her, but he didn't believe there was ever a way for her to care about him. :(
