I should probably begin with the fact that I don't typically read Regency Romance. I thought THE BEAST OF BESWICK would be a fun change from my usual genres. I was wrong.

First off, I didn't find any of it historically accurate, which since it was mostly 'smut' - perhaps it wasn't supposed to be. I don't know. As I stated before, this isn't my usual genre.

I thought the author tried way too hard to make the main character into a strong willed, superwoman who needed no man - yet needed favors from all of them. She came across as an insufferable know-it-all with a bad attitude and a foul mouth. It was so ridiculously overboard for that time period.

As far as the Beast of Beswick - he was a surprisingly likeable character, although a bit too self depreciating. His constantly thinking of sex wasn't at all realistic and was kind of laughable to me. He reminded me very much of Sandor Clegane from Game of Thrones without the grit or the wit.

The arguments between the two and the sex scenes were the same exact thing, over and over again. I could have skipped half the book without missing anything.
