Whew! Finally, a sexy feminist romance for us all. I definitely do NOT recommend reading this in public... it gets VERY steamy!!! I loved Astrid and Thane as flawed characters who brought out the best in each other as they fell in love. This book has amazing sex scenes but more than that, it's a true love story. I stayed up late and devoured it all in one sitting. It's hard to conceive of a feminist romance in 19th century England, but this one achieves it. It's really wonderful to get the steamy romance combined with a truly equal partnership.
I'm so glad this is the start of a series -- the next book features Astrid's sister, Isobel, who is a minor character in this one! I can't wait to read more about her own love story. (Sidenote: can Aunt Mabel get a book too?? She is such a feisty, wonderful character!)
