Hmm...still need more info to make a decision
This is a part of my quest to go back through and hit all the old books in an effort to garner more points to use on free books. In so doing, I download a bunch of the excerpts, slap them on the nook, and then later, offline, read through them and make notes, only to come back here to write those up at a later point.
Okay, here's the thing - I don't read romance outside of Tessa Dare because she makes things hilarious. I do, however, love The Taming of the Shrew, so I was intrigued by the Bookish First blurb given for this one. Upon starting the "first look" excerpt, however, I was...less than impressed. I was promised funny, and there wasn't anything that generated even a light snorting of air, much less a chuckle or gaffaw, within the excerpt. Still further, there's a high level of suspension of disbelief required in this one - most of the excerpt seems improbable, unrealistic, or otherwise poorly executed. Given that this is not my preferred genre, I cannot see myself getting into this one, though if it was given to me for free, I might give it a go.
