I was excited to receive this book. I love the story of Beauty and the Beast and was looking forward to read this retelling. However, I am not a huge fan of the romance genre, and that's what this book turned out to be. The characters were cardboard cutouts, easily interchangeable with other characters in other books. There isn't a lot of character development or growth, even among the man characters, much less the lesser characters, such as the legal guardians. There were no surprises.
I should have paid more attention to the cover, I guess, which is pure bodice ripper (although lovely and sexy).
My dislike of this book is not a negative review of the author. It's the genre in general, and that's on me.
