This was a cute beauty and the beast/taming of the shrew retelling with likable characters and a slow burn romance.
I liked Astrid, she was stubborn, brave and loyal to a fault. She sees herself as rescuer rather than letting herself become the rescuee (even if she ends up in uncomforable situations sometimes!)
I always have a soft spot for the gruff brooding Hero and Nathaniel was no different. He put up a lot of walls and each time I kept rooting for the confrontation that would clear the air because I really wanted him and Astrid to overcome both their assumptions when it came to their marriage of convenience. These two deserved a happily ever after with each other and I think the author did a fantasic job of telling their story.
The start of the story immediately pulled me in and although the middle started to lag a little with the back and forth, hot and cold behavior of both MCs, the ending tied it all together and left me with all the warm fuzzy romance feels I was expecting.
I would definitely read this author again!
