My first love as a young teen was Victoria Holt's books - period romances in which I learned a bit of history as well. This is usually a formula for success and one that I enjoy reading. Throw in some humor and a female character who can hold her own with a man and I am usually hooked. It sounds like this story is a combination of all those things that I enjoy.
