I love historical fiction but romance isn't usually my thing. The 1st chapter of this book jumps straight into a potential marriage between 16 year old Isobel and a much older jerk. The jerk is intent on marrying Isobel because he had been snubbed by her older sister Astrid years earlier. Astrid now vows to protect Isobel, despite being women in the 1800s with no money or power of their own.
