This is the first book by Nancy Bush that I have read. After reading The Babysitter, I am excited to read her other works. The story begins with Jamie, a high school sophomore, being invited to a party. The only problem is that she was supposed to babysit the Ryerson twins. Her sister Emma was supposed to go to the same party but Jamie talked Emma into babysitting for her, just for a while and then they would switch. Emma is attacked by an intruder. She is left to suffer with severe developmental issues.
Jamie and her 15yr old daughter, Harley, come home after Jamie's mother dies to help take care of Emma. Jamie is still dealing with nightmares of Emma's attack and when she moves home, similar crimes are happening. One of Jamie's former classmates, Cooper, decides to reopen the case 20 years later.
