This book is a memory field for me. I just remember snuggling under the blankets with a flashlight well after my bedtime reading books like this that I checked out from the library without telling my mom. It's so good and the nostalgia in this book is real.

This story has everything: sibling guilt, twists and turns galore, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat vibes, missteps, and more. Jamie can't help but dive head-first into her own investigation when a babysitter is attacked in her hometown 20 years after her sister was brutally attacked and left permanently physically and mentally scarred. I will note that the book could, perhaps, use a few updates in its treatment of Emma's mental health condition. But overall, it was captivating to read this and take a trip down memory lane to some of the author's older works. Highly recommend!
