The characters are lacking in depth. The preview introduces two sisters who seem to be unconnected to each other by anything other than an exchange of cash. It’s hard to feel for the characters as they lack depth.
You need to hear the voice of the main character, in order to connect. The voice before and after are unchanged by the events which supposedly rock her world enough to encourage her to marry the first man she meets.
That idea alone seems dated and unrealistic in today’s world, where a woman need no man to leave home and not return. The character is not strong. The main character does not seem concerned about why her sister was attacked. She doesn’t seem concerned about the kids; why did the child have a bad dream. Had she heard something or seen something she shouldn’t have?
