Going back to the 1980's babysitter stalker urban legend, the story focuses on would-be victim, Jamie, and her family. On the night in question, (18 years previous to the setting of the book), sophomore Jamie is babysitting, but has previously arranged for her older sister to take over for her so that she can go to a party where the seniors, (and her mega-crush), are drinking and fooling around with no parents in sight. While she is at the party, her sister Emma, is attacked and is sadly brain-damaged for life due to her injuries. Current day has Jamie coming back home to care for her sister and, big surprise, leads into solving the mystery that was never solved back then. I'm a huge fan of the murder mystery genre, and I did find myself wanting to know what happens next after reading the "first look." The idea and story is solid, with believable characters that one can identify with. That being said, I'm a little put off with the obsession of over-describing certain aspects of the story. For example, the writer tends to add what the characters are wearing, (in great detail), almost as an afterthought and it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the paragraph. This happened several times in the first 50 pages alone.
