Too scattered to follow

I like the idea and premise, despite it sound like it's trying hard to rip off a movie plot, but the first chapter was so scattered and rushed, I was having trouble trying to figure out what was important to retain and what was fluff ... I wasn't really even able to keep track of whether I was supposed to be interested in and following Jamie or Emma and who was who. Next thing I knew, it was over and I was at some point in the way distant future?! Chapter One probably should have been more accurately labeled a prologue and shortened to just the salient information points. Chapter Two rushed me through a few other bits and by Chapter Three on page 22 I was solidly too lost to continue. Maybe years or dates would have helped keep it straight? I think I'll pass on this one, I have a feeling that I would spend the time flipping back to earlier parts of the book trying to miss what I was supposed to have gleaned from what I'd already read. The cover was just so-so, I didn't really get the impression from what I'd read that it was an image of anything that might have happened in the book.
