In fairness, slasher movies aren't my thing, so that comparison alone would lead me to take a hard pass on this book. The writing is fine. Lots of tension and drama building up. I didn't feel much connection to any of the characters though, and I'm worn out on all the drama with suspense these days. So this isn't for me, but will certainly appeal to readers who enjoy this genre.
