I really like the way in which the author, Hala Alyan writes. It is simultaneously poetic and descriptive, which really helps illustrate the inter-generational relationships portrayed by the story. Learning that the author is an award winning poet is quite clear when reading the story. I am intrigued to see how the characters develop and interact with the story- it is unlike a lot of the books I read and I would love to see more!
