I think family dramas are hard to pull off. Sometimes they are WAY too over dramatic or unrealistic, and sometimes they can come off as forced and trivial. This book actually seems to have found the sweet spot of cultural identity, history, and family dynamics to make me interested in this genre after years of avoidance.
