I enjoyed the author's book of poetry, so I am interested to see if some of those themes and experiences will be expanded on in this fictional family novel. From the first pages, we understand that we are in a war-torn community, and further within a tight-knit family, and that someone is soon going to die. That's quite a lot to pack into an opening, so I'm hoping that this story does not turn out to be too heavy-handed.
