In 1939 Hetty Cartwright director of a natural history museum in London, arrives at Lockwood Manor for safe keeping. While there Hetty must deal with a tyrannical Major Lockwood and his beautiful and haunted daughter Lucy Lockwood.

As her stay grows Hetty realizes that not only is her employment in danger but so is her life and sanity.

There's someone or something in the house. Someone stalking her through its darkened corridors.

The Animals at Lockwood Manor was not what I expected. I thought this book would be spooky and mysterious. I was even expected a little sexiness. But I didn't get any of those things.

This book was boring. Nothing happens. Every time I thought that we were building up to something it always ended up being anticlimactic. Even the BIG reveal at the end of the book was underwhelming.

I do think that Jane Healey has a beautiful way with words. She just lacks the ability to tell an interesting story.
