This book was good and engrossing. I had to keep reading it and didn’t want to put it down. It has all the things you want in a dark historical fiction Creepy house, Rumored to be haunted, Things moving on their own, Nightmares keeping everyone up. The plot was good and kept me going. I really liked Hetty and Lucy and their relationship. I felt very bad for both of them most of the time. I wish Hetty could have been stronger and stuck up for herself. But her situation was very understandable based on the time period this book it was sent in. This book definitely did not go in the direction I expected it to towards the end. It got so much darker and I was very surprised. Trigger warning for child abuse.
