I really wanted to like this book. However pretty much everything the book hints it as being is untrue. It's not a mystery. It's not about museum, or animals - the animals are dead and stuffed. It's mainly a slow-building romance between two women in a time when they really couldn't love each other openly. I thought that part of the story was lovely. But this story is more than 300 pages and frankly almost nothing happens. In the beginning you get a sense of mystery, some of the museum animals are being moved - but it's just Lucy sleepwalking. We get this recurring nightmare of a woman in white that is solved as well, but it turns out to be Mary. And only at the very end do we even care who Mary is! This book should have been a short story, maybe 100 pages in total.
