The first few pages of The Animals at Lockwood Manor set up only one of the promised characters, but what we learn about "Miss Cartwright" is only endearing at this point. It is hard not to connect with an underdog, and an adopted young woman trying to make her way in a man's world is a story that is going to resonate with a lot of readers. The setting is beautifully described and I can't wait to see how the author portrays that promised manor. From the description, I am imagining a sinister "Night at the Museum", and I, for one, am absolutely into it. The cover is intriguing and eye-catching.
