Way too many books with this subject

Look I am sure from the excerpt that many people will like this book but to me, the story is overdone and bland. Again, another nerdy girl in charge of protecting someone during a war of some sort. I hope that this is just the most recent trend for historical fantasy and not something that will overtake the genre in the long run.
