The cover added to this books allure. It immediately makes one think of English manors and the mysteries they may hold. The title confirms that. Written in first person this novel promises to dive deep into the life and thoughts of its heroine. No ghosts or mysterious things yet but the opening leaves no doubt that there will be. A single, determined woman off to a large manor, owned by a widowed husband, with hundreds of stuffed animals and fossils? As a fan of Kate Morton and Sarah Perry (perhaps Diane Setterfield too?) I will definitely be reading this one.
