Slow Start
There isn't much I can say about the excerpt, especially compared to the detailed summary of the book.
We get to meet Hetty Cartwright, who tells us about her childhood as an orphan and her aspirations to work at a museum, which are now possibly becoming a reality only because of the war. We never get into the Lockwood Manor or meet any new characters. I would usually not continue a book like this but I'm very curious about a possible f/f romance, especially during a time like this where a woman was meant to find a husband and create a family
