Not Sure How I Feel About This One

Th premise of the story, evacuating the contents of a museum to prevent them from being destroyed in a war-time bombing, is somewhat interesting. Perhaps a more lengthy preview would have helped me to judge this book fairly. Something about the female protagonist seemed a bit stilted. She is clumsy and -of course- falls into part of the museum exhibits and sends contents flying. Her comments on her own injuries, "I care not a jot" seemed stilted. I realize this is supposed to be set many decades ago in England, but even if that phrase was the popular expression at the time, it just did not ring true to me. The additional details about the protagonist include the fact that she is adopted and her mother forgot to feed her and yelled at her for eating a couple of apples. I just do not have that want-to-read feeling about this book.
