Love the premise, love the writing

Oh man, this is my kind of historical fiction - something based on a strange but true historical situation (think something you'd read about on Atlas Obscura), sprinkled in with some magical realism. I was also sold on the writing straight away. I'll admit I'm biased - I love museums and the esoteric cataloguing of natural history artifacts, so this whole setting and premise made me happy.
