I am leery of what it has to say about sexism (I'm overall leery of sexism being surface level in media) but so far it comes off okay.
I think this novel is not going to be for me even though nothing is really wrong with it. I just don't feel immediately engaged by what I read from the sample. The story reminds me of Jane Eyre - with manor, horrible treatment from female authority figure, being cut off from parents and the sexism.
