Intriguing beginning!

I'm already really intrigued by this beginning regarding the animals and also the backstory of the protagonist! I think the author has a really sort of simple and calm yet engaging writing style that is really drawing me in and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the story will go. I also found myself really drawn in by the cover!
