Both the era and setting of this book are very appealing to me (England during WWII), and the main character's interest in zoology and history are a wonderful added bonus. I already feel that I like the protagonist and can't wait to read more about her. Suspense, history, maybe a dash of romance, and a woman struggling for professional recognition in a misogynistic field - all in a Gothic setting. Who could ask for anything more?
