Alex North's The Angel Maker has an interesting take on the serial killer genre and the devastating trauma that those involved with go through. The pacing and thrilling plot had me running through the book in two days trying to understand the twists, turns, and ties going on beneath the surface. You root for main character, Katie Shaw, and hope the best for her brother, Chris.

My only complaint is one loose thread at the end that I still don't understand how they are involved or their motivation in stalking another, younger character. The lack of explanation is more jarring since everything else is laid out neatly to see the motivations and connections between characters so well.

I would recommend The Angel Maker for anyone who is interested in the psychology of serial killers and/or their victims. North does an excellent job of creating character development from the beginning to the end.
