This was a psychologically twisting story that takes you on a mystery of past and present. I enjoyed the characters and their character development. Katie and the Detective cross paths in a horrible way and her brother Chris--well I won't spoil anything for you. I was pleasantly surprised by the novel's twists and turns as they were new and fresh. I have read so much that I can often guess what is going to happen so I love when an author fools me. I think this one had more tension and caused me more fear than Alex North's previous works. The author is honing his craft and it is clear in this novel. It's my favorite of his stories to date. While I don't think this is for someone with a weak constitution, I would recommend this to friends who are already into twisted psychological thrillers. Though I do wonder why North has it out for children lol.
