When I saw Alex North had another book coming out I knew I needed to read it. The Whisper Man is one of my favorite books of all time. While this doesn’t beat The Whisper Man, it was still very good! This book follows two story lines. Katie Shaw had a wonderful life. Until one day, when she was on her way to graduating, someone changes her family forever. Years later, Katie is unable to rid herself of the guilt she has for what happened to her brother Chris. With a child of her own to protect, she struggles to separate real threats from one’s she imagines. Then one day she gets a phone call: her brother is missing and needs her once more. On the other hand, Detective Laurence Page is investigating a grisly crime. All leads point back to old cases: an attack on teenager Chris Shaw and a notorious serial killer who was rumored to see the future.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. At times I had to put it down because it was so creepy! I liked following the two story lines because someone big could happen at the end of a chapter with one story, but then you’d have to wait for another chapter (or more) to find out what happened next! It made me want to keep reading.

Sadly, the ending wasn’t as good as I was hoping, but most of the questions were answered. I was able to figure out the conclusions along the way, but I think for someone new to mystery/thriller this could be a good place to start. I will definitely be reading anything else Alex North puts out.
