While this was the first Alex North novel I’ve read, it certainly won’t be the last! I loved how this book dived right into the story, capturing my full attention right away within the first few pages. Once started, I truly could not put this book down!

While I enjoyed how the book was told from different character’s viewpoints, oftentimes I found it challenging to differentiate between the different characters. On numerous occasions I found myself flipping back to earlier chapters to determine which character was which, particularly with regards to Alan Hobbes, Edward Leland, and Detective Laurence.

Conversely, the characters of Katie and Chris Shaw were fully developed; their relationship as children and their non-existent relationship as adults was all too believable. I enjoyed the character of James Alderson and wish there would have been more Chris / Alderson scenes (especially as backstory to illustrate their blossoming relationship)!

Overall this was a fantastic read! This book definitely lived up to the hype and vastly exceeded my expectations!
