this book was… wow. i get very confused with names sometimes (i forget the main characters name seconds after i finish a book sometimes… object permanence, yanno?) so i was having a bit of a ~time~ with this book. there’s a lot of characters with a lot of names and a lot of things they’re called. but getting past that, the story was so well done. it’s not my usual genre, and i probably wouldn’t have picked it up on my own in a bookstore without bookstagram guiding me, but a few posts and a @bookishfirst @celadon giveaway later… and i was hooked.

the story i expected to read was not the same story i read… and i loved that? i think the expectations versus reality really paired well with the story and the way the characters were experiencing the same events i was. there’s dual (3?) timeline, a lot of point-of-views of different character, and so, so much information being given and watching it all come together in the last section of the book was so gratifying.
