I love how Alex North's novels have an identifiable "look": the font, the bold images, and the distinctly creepy vibe. As I began the Prologue, I actually thought that maybe I had accidentally swapped out The Angel Maker with a teen novel, but NOPE. By the end of the Prologue it was clear that this was indeed an Alex North book, and that his latest would be as dark and gripping as his previous thrillers. This excerpt does a lot of world building and character development in under 30 pages. My only critique is that I have to wait until February to read more!
