High-schooler Katie goes to Sam's house for an hour after school one day--an hour in which her younger brother Chris is brutally targeted and attacked. Elsewhere and another time, Alan Hobbes is old & alone but he seems to know things about people he's never met. He knows death is coming. One person Alan thought about is Detective Laurence Page, now on his way to Alan's home to investigate an old man's murder. In another time, Katie is now in her 30s, married to Sam, the mother of 3.5-year-old Siena, and a teacher concerned about one of her struggling students. Back home, Siena is found alone watching TV while her father is in the basement working. Siena seems to predict something and suddenly Katie gets a call from her mother--something's happened to Chris.
Somehow the author will tie these characters together and reveal who is the angel maker of the title. The red cover grabs attention, the lit match has a flame shaped like a wing, and together it is a striking image. This thriller/mystery has characters I already like and want to know more about. I'm afraid it will 'creep' me out, but I don't care!
