The biggest first impression for me was: choppy. The way it is written, at least in the beginning, feels really choppy. I'm hoping that this style was done for impact at the start of the story, to help build the blocks of suspense, and the prose evens out as the book continues. Other than that, the premise seems really interesting, and I'm curious how this story unfolds.
