"Corie is a former FBI agent married to a widowed judge (Josh) and becomes a new mom to his teenage daughter. However she's bored and she's freelancing for a few literary agencies."

Despite the compelling premise and plot of TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE - this book didn't work for me. It was my first read from Susan Isaacs.

The beginning started promising, but soon the slow pace of the mystery (quite boring) and the poor character development didn't help to make me interested in the story. It felt dragged and I didn't care about the characters, besides, the lack of humor worsened my attempt to get invested into it. At last, the execution wasn't great. Having said that, the writing was quite easy.
