I was unfamiliar with Susan Isaacs up to this point, so while the summary describes wit and humor in her writing, it isn't coming through super strong in these first pages. The cover hints at a lot more punch than we are getting at the beginning and we have the character's suspicions set up for future chapters. Seems like a bit of a slow burn story so far. Not bad, but not necessarily gripping so far.
