I found this to be pretty slow and boring. I don't know where the story is going, what the conflict is, or what questions I should be asking myself about what might come next. Yes, there is a somewhat mysterious man but absolutely nothing has happened to give us any reason to think he actually has a story to unfold. I just got bored and have no interest in reading more. It didn't hook me in.
