Corie fell in love with Josh and his daughter, Eliza. Corie left the FBI for the wealthy suburbs (and Josh and Eliza). She became a freelancer for publishing houses; she reads new Arabic fiction and makes recommendations. In an effort to fit in with her new surroundings, Corie joins a weekly lunch of local entrepreneurs. There she encounters Pete Delaney and old instincts kick in. She feels something is off about him and can't resist digging deeper.
