I wan't sure I would enjoy the writing style, but after the first two pages, you are already emotionally involved in the life of Storm and Lake. I have been around a couple of foster kids and you can usually tell that they are emotionally guarded. I can't imagine all of the emotions they really must have. This story has really opened my eyes.
You immediately get attached to both Storm and Lake. Your heart aches for the situation that they are in and the times that their lives are upended. I felt very hopeful when they both landed in the same safe, happy home, but it didn't last for long. How can you expect either Storm or Lake to grow into productive, happy adults?
