Okay
This is very much an Ellen Hopkins book, if you like her other work it is very likely you will enjoy this one.
I loved Ellen Hopkins as a teen, I reread one of her books (Impulse) as an adult and it was shockingly homophobic. Sync has a queer main character (Lake) that I found decently written so that's a big win in my opinion. I liked both Lake and Storm and was rooting for them the entire time, even when they make mistakes. I liked that it was duel PoV and we got to see inside of both Lake and Storm's head rather than just one of them. The ending is a touch too vague for my taste but I did quite like where the book left off.
Though for a book about siblings, there is hardly any interaction between the two of them. In fact there is only one tiny on page face-to-face interaction. I wish we saw more of their relationship instead of just being told about it. I also wasn't a fan of the way some of the heavy topics were handled.
Overall I did not love this as much as my teen self would have, but I did enjoy reading it.
Content warning: Rape (a lot), suicide, child abuse, violence, drugs
