Storm and Lake are 17 year old twins who have always been in the perfect sync. After their mother decided it was too much for her, the twins have been going from one foster home to the next, together and apart. After a stint in juvie, Storm is hopeful with a kind foster dad and a wonderful girlfriend. When his girlfriend is assaulted, Storm ends up in Juvie wondering if Lake is okay. Lake has found a new relationship in her fellow foster Parker. Parker convinces her to run away from their fosters after being caught in a compromising situation. Will Lake and Storm find their way back to each other?

Ellen Hopkins has always been a favorite author of mine. She really knows how to write a novel in verse since it is all poetry. The way the individual stories connect is astounding to see and the emotional that you feel makes you tear up. You are rooting for Storm and Lake the entire time, and it really casts a light on the foster system. It is an easy book to read in terms of words, but a hard book in terms of the topics that are covered throughout the entire book. It has a lot of dark themes so if it's not something that you can stomach, it may not be a good fit.
