I can see how these books are huge favorites for people, but it was just too much for me. I could see how dark this would get quickly, and I just don't think it's something I want to read. I think there's too much explaining in the letters too that doesn't make sense. I get that it's really for the audience, but it means that the first letter didn't actually feel like it was written for Lake. The cover is beautiful and captures both characters in the images. I wouldn't read more of this book to find out what happens next, but I can understand why it would appeal to many teen readers.
