Ellen Hopkins is known for her novel's in verse. She writes gritty, truthful stories featuring hardships. Sync takes on the foster system and its failures with twins, Lake and Storm. They are taken into the foster care system and then eventually they are split apart. I do like the novel-in-verse poetic writing. I would definitely read this and recommend all of Hopkins work. While her works deal with sensitive topics, they are necessary (especially in today's society of book banning and censorship!).
