"Sync" by Ellen Hopkins follows the lives of twins, Storm and Lake, as they navigate the foster care system. They spent their earlier years with a mother and grandmother who were unable to care for them, and at times abusive. At the beginning, they are placed together in a loving home. However, due to extenuating circumstances, they are placed in different homes. The plot consists of their past memories and thoughts of each other, wondering how they are doing and surviving.
