I took 2 days to read the first look since I started reading it late at night and I decided I wanted to finish it when my mind wasn't foggy with tiredness. As you read this... prose, Im going to say, You get a sense of how tragic the foster system is. It seems so normal yet extreme at the same time. You always hear stories where they terribleness of the system is exaggerated and sensationalized. Not having been a victim of the system myself I can only imagine that this is fairly accurate of the average experience for older kids thrown into the lurch. It is extremely descriptive, emotional and beautiful all wrapped up into one uniquely written story. It switches from one POV to the other and back again which can confuse me sometimes but this seems like a seamless conversation almost.
